Last Friday I got to take photos at a mini “athletics” day – homeschooled children mimicking the Olympics for an afternoon. And they all took it very seriously indeed: the children dressed up in their chosen nations’ colours; the flame was brought into the garden in relay; the athletes all paraded in waving their flags; there was a welcome message and oath to compete sportingly … And then the games began!
I really, really, really tried to whittle these down but this was the best I could do – from the 309 photos I took I give you 30 (of my favourites).
And at the end of the afternoon all the athletes received three chocolate medals each – probably the highlight of the afternoon (for them). Unfortunately the photographer wasn’t in the running for one.
That looks like lots of fun! Maybe I should do something like this with Marianne’s kids and mine…wrestling anyone??
You could do the marathon – around your complex; swimming – in the pond outside; shooting; rock climbing – up the back wall… The possibilities are endless!
Yes, indeed! Feel free to come and set it all up and officiate for me!
Who knows. In years to come these children may just take part in the Olympic Games..
And they will cherish the pics you took of them when they were all small together on that special Junior Olympics day in 2012
