Weekly Photo Challenge: Windows

A couple of windows then for this week’s challenge … from my old school – Pretoria Boys High. The school’s buildings date back to 1909, and were opened by General Jan Smuts. A lot has changed since then but they still maintain a sense of a majestic, bygone age.  I went on a short trip up and down memory lane this week when I visited the school to speak to the photography club.

The front window: "Virtute et Labore" or "Through Courage And Labour", the school's motto.

That's a lot of windows in the main school building.

I was using a fisheye lens on that one. I’ve always wanted to try one out and it does make for some amazing perspectives…

OOoooh. I love the perspective in that second shot… but I sure wouldn’t want to be the resident window cleaner.

Classroom windows are great for staring out, especially when the class is boring! Lucky kids!!

perfect tribute to a main school building; a school likes to feel like royal palace!

It is a pity that schools look more like prisons nowadays and have very little charm. I love the stained glass.

The school looks like he/she (?) is reaching out to embrace the viewer. Love the fish eye, works really well here!

You may know me in the blogosphere as "madderinmada", "Rambling with a Cantankerous old mule" or "Vicissitudes of a Cantankerous old mule". But that's all changed and here I am living life from behind my camera lens.

Welcome. I hope you enjoy the visit.
